Cold Ice, Warm Spirits, Leading Technology
The 7 Chiefs Sportsplex features three of the best ice surfaces in Alberta. We are immensely proud that the Calgary Hitmen chose us as their home base for the 2020-21 WHL season, and equally proud that the NHL’s Calgary Flames conduct their summer training here. But we are proudest of all of the beginners who choose to take their first steps onto the ice with us.
Big 4 Motors Arena
Our flagship arena boasts an NHL regulation-sized rink, radiant heating, comfortable seating for over 2,000 spectators, standing areas including a second-floor concourse, eight well-appointed dressing rooms, concession stands, media booth, full sound system, and a 500 square foot VIP suite overlooking all the action. Pride of place goes to one of the few jumbotrons in Calgary outside of the Saddledome where the NHL Calgary Flames play – meaning the action is crystal clear to everyone.
Like all our facilities, the Big 4 Motors Arena is entirely wheelchair accessible. When the arena is not in use for skating, it can be converted to dry-land use for tradeshows, concerts, and exhibitions.
Arena 2
Our second indoor arena matches Big 4 Motors Arena with its NHL regulation-sized rink and well-appointed dressing rooms, with bench seating for over 400 spectators. A concourse on the second storey provides standing room and concession stands to fuel the energy, while a full sound system and scoreboard completes the atmosphere. With a glass wall between the two indoor arenas, you won’t miss a thing on either rink.
This arena is wheelchair-friendly, and when not in use for skating can be converted to dry-land use for tradeshows, concerts, and exhibitions.
Outdoor Covered Arena
What could celebrate our country more than a game on the outdoor rink, fully covered to keep any snowfall off the ice and skaters?
Our outdoor covered arena offers easy access to the changing rooms, benches to lace up on, and outdoor music to get everyone in the mood. It is available for open skating and group bookings. It is attached to our main building and next to the parking lots, providing easy access. In the summer it can be converted for other outdoor sporting activities, or used as a flat, covered surface for events such as farmer’s markets or artisanal fairs.
